Chairman, Delta State Sports Commission, Chief Tonobok Okowa has given thumbs up to the 21st African Senior Athletics Championship which ends today after five days of stiff competition between over 50 participating countries .
The sports administrator also added that the presence of talented athletes from all over Africa will boost the morale and confidence of upcoming athletes in the state.

Furthermore Okowa said that plans are already in place for the facilities at the Stephen Keshi stadium to be well maintained after the championship.
” I am impressed so far on this championship. We have been able to put up a good standard. We have been attending other meets outside Nigeria, I and Chief Solomon Ogba and I don’t think there is much difference. On the facilities we have planned that after the competition they will be well maintained. The football pitch is prepared in a way that both dry and rainy season will remain lush for football matches”

In addition Chief Tonobok Okowa in response to accusations of the state abandoning teams at the airport and if after the championship such will not be the case, said ” Such will not be the case as we have arrangements to evacuate everyone who attended the competition as early as and before, all the contingents would have gone back home”.

Meanwhile Nigeria is still hopeful of topping the overall medals table by the end the games.
