Ayodele Fayose points to his deputy as his preferred candidate ,’I trust in the capabilities of the humble and unassuming Prof. Kolapo Olusola Olubunmi.
Let him take over from me’.

Permit me to borrow a leaf from Dolly Parton who says: “If your actions create a legacy that inspires others to dream more, learn more, do more, and become more, then, you are an excellent leader”.

In paraphrasing Parton’s assertion, it is loud and clear that any political leader who cannot sit down to think deeply and build one man among his array of followers to succeed, sustain, maintain and improve the good works of his initiatives is not a leader that is worth his salt.

Though, some biased political analysts, especially those who are far from Ekiti State but love to read and dogmatically believe every news from the stable of the people who feel without spreading falsehood, power will be difficult to be hijacked from the man piloting the affairs of the state have described the beautiful idea (continuity agenda) raised by Gov. Peter Ayodele Fayose as a limbo.

But one of the reasons I believe the agenda will be the exact opposite of what the political opponents of Fayose thought of was the quick ability of the governor in making a wise decision by adopting his deputy, Prof. Kolapo Olusola Eleka as his anointed candidate for the July 14, 2018 gubernatorial election in Ekiti State.

Fayose as a living political legend, not only in Ekiti State but Nigeria is unlike Otunba Niyi Adebayo who served Ekiti people without having any meaningful impact in the state. He is also unlike Engr. Segun Oni who was unable to commission most of the projects he initiated and no one can say Fayose shares some similarities with Dr. Kayode Fayemi who plunged the state into heavy debts.

Fayose with his political acumen and native intelligence knows what Ekiti wants and what the State will actually benefit from under a young man who has reached the pinnacle of his career in academics.
This singular decision has silenced most of the eggheads in Ekiti and thus hardly could any of them raise his or her voice against this apt and well calculated political decision.

Fayose wants the best for Ekiti and that is why he is giving the state a man who will not only use his academic prowess to add beauty to the existing structures, but sustain all sustainable activities that will eventually make the state look like a firmament once reputed to have produced the highest number of professors in the country.

Fayose in his first tenure met no meaningful legacies on ground as the tenure of the first Executive Governor of the State (Adebayo) whom he succeeded could still be arguably regarded as the worst in the history of the State. Even when Fayose was unable to complete his tenure due to understandable reasons, the people of the State tagged him, “Architect of Modern Ekiti”.

The superlative performance of Ayodele Fayose in his second coming is in no doubt whatsoever. One only needs to visit Ado Ekiti to feel the lustre of beauty that has enveloped the city in the last few months. The cheer scenery of the yet to be commissioned flyover in Ado has already changed the notion of many elites in the State towards Fayose.

The standard of Oja-Oba Market also in Ado is another reason Ekiti people should embrace the continuity agenda by giving Eleka who is part of the team that is resolute in revamping the state with stupendous facelift a chance to govern the state.

For sure, Ekiti Continuity Agenda is the best option for the State and should be embraced by the real progressives and those that mean well for the Fountain of Knowledge.
