From Moses Gbande, Jos
Two former military Heads of State, Generals Ibrahim Babagida and Olusegun Obasanjo have come under severe criticism for allegedly making moves to discredit President Muhammadu Buhari of being responsible for the current insecurity, economic recession and underdevelopment facing Nigeria by the National Coordinator of the Buhari Campaign Organization, Alh. Danladi Pasali, who in an interactive session with journalists, including our correspondent, Moses Gbande, accused the two former Nigerian leaders for looting the country’s resources thereby forcing the country into it’s current state.
Mr. Pasali said the letter purportedly written by former president Olusegun Obasanjo and the subsequent statement credited to Gen. Ibrahim Babangida asking Buhari not to seek for a second term in office is unfortunate.
“We want to put the records straight, President Olusegun Obasanjo brought the Maitatsine religious crisis in 1979 to 1980 and has been accused of misusing funds so he lacks the credentials or pedigree to blackmail an incorruptible leader like Muhammadu Buhari. To us, that is character assassination”.
Danladi Pasali added that the only achievement recorded by former President Obasanjo was the sale of Nigerian assets, otherwise we saw what he did in Odi in Bayelsa state, Zaki Biam in Benue state where he sent troops to wipe out over 3000 innocent lives of children, women, youths and men.
Pasali expressed confidence in the achievements of president Muhammadu Buhari for revamping moribund industries and providing fertilizers to farmers, adding the richest person now is the farmer.
He commended the president and Governor Simon Laong, for their administrative policies in the restoration of peace and religious tolerance.
He applauded the policies of the Federal Government and Governor Lalong since they came into office in 2015 which has helped in the development of the human index in the state unlike other administrations before him.
Mr. Pasali further said that the governor, Rt. Hon. Simon Bako Lalong has given them the benefit of being alive because of the constant payment of workers salaries under his administration.
“We are happy as workers and people of Plateau today are happy to have a governor like Lalong, who places human life first above any other project in the state.
“Although he has not built much structures or constructed many roads in the state, he has built many lives and protected hundreds, especially, the lives of the children, who were once thrown out of schools because their parents could not afford to settle their school fees before now, owing to the fact that they are civil servants.
The peace we now enjoy in the state is also a deliberate policy of Governor Lalong’s administration. Although we see pockets of attacks here and there, the number of deaths and its frequencies has reduced.
He maintained that the government is doing all things possible for peace to remain in the state. People are leaving other states now for Plateau state.
“We commend the Governor for holding on to that policy, as it has saved uncountable number of innocent lives.
“We expect that, if given the chance for a second term and the level of peace remaining the same, Governor Lalong, will build all that is desirable. For now, his strength and that of his administration for Plateau, rest in his human-focused policies, which needs to be embraced by all.”
