The maiden edition of the Engineer Musa Nimrod U-20 Inter Ward Football Championship for Hong Local Government Area of Adamawa State has kicked off successfully, and it’s momentum seems to be rising to a crescendo.
Organising Secretary of the Youth Sports Federation of Nigeria (YSFON), Malam Abdulrazak Usman disclosed this while speaking on the phone with a New Nigerian newspaper correspondent on Friday.
The kick-off ceremony on Wednesday at the College of Education, Hong was witnessed by several dignitaries, according to Mr. Usman.
The Chairman of Hong Local Government Area, Honourable James T. Pakuma, his vice, Honourable Abdulkareem and a community leader, Honourable Dzari Tachal were among the several dignitaries that graced the colourful opening ceremony, ” he further added.
He explained that the final of the competition will be played on January 14, where trophies and other prizes will be presented to the winners.
Malam Usman praised Engineer Nimrod, who is the President of the Nigeria Volleyball Federation (NVBF) for his philanthropic gestures, aimed at reducing vices and empowering youth, calling on other public spirited individuals and corporate organizations to emulate same.
“Engineer Nimrod is doing so much for sports development all over the country, using personal resources to touch lives. We appreciate his commitment to keeping youths away from crime and other social vices by creating an avenue to engage them positively,” he added.
In the Kaduna edition of the Nimrod Soccer championship in April 2019, Arewa Academy emerged Champions by trouncing GS Academy 2-0 as reported by New Nigerian newspapers.
