“We ignite opportunity by setting the world in motion.”- Uber.

Welcome to the world of Software.
Like Uber. It is just a software tool. They don’t own any cars but are now the biggest taxi company in the world.
Did any taxi driver see it coming?
Certainly not the laid back Taxi drivers in Lagos and Ibadan. And of course, much of Nigeria.

For Omotola in Dugbe suburb of Ibadan. If she needed to get to her clothes line shop at Gbagi market, She’d walk down to the major road and hail a taxi, negotiate price, board and get going.

Not anymore, or so it would soon appear.
Shortly, she would no longer need to perform that routine because she has an Android phone, not only with the Uber app, but equally with Taxify software. If she wants to go out, it is simple.
Go to the app. As a registered user, she’ll log on and say where she is. The Uber app would instantly locate a free Uber Car within the neighborhood and issue directions via Google map. Few seconds later, the cabman shows up and calls, for your metered cab is already waiting.

The cab’s are usually neater, newer, more comfortable and more the drivers are usually friendly and courteous. Add the fact that they are cheaper. Therefore as Ibadan taxis queue up waiting for passengers to show up, there are creases on their brows as they frown that a mere app is stealing their passengers right from their bedrooms while they wait endlessly at the Taxi rank. The argument is not small.

Uber says that they “ignite opportunity by setting the world in motion.”

Software indeed has disrupted and will continue to disrupt most traditional businesses and industries in the next 5-10 years to come. This is the real change, not a fake political change that Nigeria is suffering from.

Therefore if you have a good car with the right Uber specifications, rush to register it with Uber, then get a good, polite driver who is ready to be on call, 24/7. Uber knows where you are and that makes it safer with GPS and Google map.

Between the car owner, Uber and the driver, there’s an established sharing formula with no cheating.

Osun.life has already upped the ante with their “Drive with osun.life”
