Ex -International, Kenneth Nwaomucha has emerged as Delta State Football Association chairman following a landslide victory in the board election held at the indoors sports hall of the Stephen Keshi stadium, Asaba on Tuesday.
Nwaomucha who is also the current Chairman, Youths Sports Federation of Nigeria, Delta chapter polled 26 votes against his opponent, Mr Michael Aniemeka who got one vote.
The election also saw former Warri Wolves chairman, Steve Cole emerge as the new Vice Chairman, with Azuka Ogosi returning as the association’s secretary.
Other persons also elected into the board include former Delta State SWAN Chairman, Harrison Ocholor, Mr. David Egho, Neville Bekederemor, Azuka Chiemeka, Lucky Sunday, and former Super Eagles defender Sam Sodje.
The election was supervised by the Chairman of Chairmen of Nigeria Football Federation, Alhaji Ibrahim Musa Gusau who was represented by the NFF South South zonal coordinator, Mr Emmanuel Iba who is also the Akwa Ibom Football Association Chairman as well as Edo state Football Association chairman.
In his inaugural speech after being sworn in by Barrister Chinenye Amujiogu, Nwaomucha said “I thank the president of NFF Mr. Amaju Pinnick, the Delta sports commission Chairman Chief Tonobok Okowa and all football stakeholders for this great day. I offer myself to service as Chairman of this great association with a promise that grassroots football and the state league would be made viable and back to reckoning as it has been dormant for sometime now”
Furthermore on reconciling with the factional group, he said, “There is no faction in Delta football. Football is not a one man game, you can see that the board is made up of five ex -players so we will reach out to the aggrieved side and bring them together to work for a common goal. We will also have a stakeholders conference soon to harmonize our football issues”.
Honourable Ken Nwamucha takes over the leadership of the association from Ex International Austin Jay Jay Okocha as the tenure of the newly inaugurated board of the Delta State Football Association will run for four years.
