The Delta State Governor, Dr Ifeanyi Okowa has said he is in office with the members of his cabinet to serve Deltans saying he would do all he can to see that the state experiences rapid growth and development.
The Governor stated this today( Wednesday) in a Town Hall meeting which was held at the Federal Government College Warri, Delta State.
He said since October last year, Delta State has been recovering from the recession adding that things have continued to improve hence the state government invigorates its human and capital development across the state.
He said apart from the roads constructed across the state which are being commissioned especially in Warri township and Asaba, the state capital, the state government has been able to train many youths in Skills Acquisition Programme who have now turned employers of labour in the state just as he said the exercise will continue, which is the basis of the ‘Smart Agenda’ of the state government.
He added that the government is determined to get a success story in this administration.The Governor said apart from the roads, many of the schools across the state have been renovated adding that it is not possible for all the roads to be done at once but it will be gradual and therefore appeals to communities who are yet to get their schools rehabilitated to exercise patience as all will be given attention.
While speaking on the Warri Street Lights project, Governor Okowa said, “The state government has been able to connect the street lights to the 33 KVA transformer, not only to reduce the costs of power generation but to sustain an effective operation.
The Governor expressed gratitude to Deltans, especially traditional rulers and the entire people for the support given to the government so far and continued to seek the support of the people to enable him have a successful administration.
On his part, the Chairman of Warri South Local Government Area Council, Hon. Michael Tidi expressed gratitude to Governor Okowa for all the roads the state government under his leadership constructed and commissioned in Warri and it’s environs, and the state in general.
Other speakers include the Otota of Okere Urhobo Kingdom, Chief Emmanuel Okumagba among others. They all extolled the virtues of the governor and assured him of support towards a second tenure.
