Members of Otuo Community in Owan East Local Government Area of Edo State are elated over the revamp and activation of the Otuo General Hospital, commending the state governor, Mr. Godwin Obaseki for prioritising the health and wellbeing of the people.

The Governor Obaseki-led administration recently deployed staff to the hospital to commence dispensing of medical services at the facility which was formerly under lock and key.

A cross section of residents who spoke to journalists on Wednesday, said the governor’s investment in the state’s healthcare sector has improved access to quality and affordable healthcare.

Ehimigbai Loveth, a trader, hailed the governor for keeping to his campaign promise by giving urgent attention to the hospital immediately after his reelection, noting that the governor has continued to earn the love and trust of the people by his people-centric programmes and reforms.

According to her, “We are elated that the governor has kept to his campaign promise ensuring that the Otuo General Hospital becomes operational. The hospital, which was hitherto abandoned, has now been upgraded with world class equipment installed and medical personnel deployed to attend to the health concerns of the people here. We are grateful to the governor for prioritizing healthcare and putting the people at the forefront of his programmes and projects.”

Another resident, Odifiri Blessing, said since the hospital was activated, the healthcare facility has continued to record an increase in the number of persons who seek medical care as it has now been upgraded to meet the health demands of residents.

He noted that the governor had ended the plight of the residents who in the past resorted to traditional healers for treatment while the state-owned hospital facility was under lock and keys.

“We thank the ‘Wake and See Governor’ for putting smiles on the faces of residents of Otuo who had to go as far as Igarra and Afuze for medical treatment. Today, the story is different as we now have a world-class hospital operational in our community courtesy of Governor Obaseki,” he added.
