With the gale of defections from the All Progressive Congress, APC in Kaduna state, north west Nigeria, it seems that Gov. Nasir El Rufai is getting increasingly isolated by the leading political party stalwarts in the state.
But if he is going to retain some clout and authority, he may have to rely entirely on his ethnic Fulani group, who themselves may be split between El Rufai and Suleiman Hunkuyi.
The Deputy Speaker of the Kaduna State House of Assembly, Hon John Audu Kwaturu, Representing Kachia Constituency and his Kudan Constituency Counterpart, Hon Junaidu Yakubu who were elected on the platform of the All Progressives Congress have now defected to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
The duo cited draconian leadership of the APC at the State, Local Government and Ward levels as reason why they defected from the APC. they stated that with the party’s pattern of leadership, it will not serve the interest of the people in their constituencies.
With the way and manner APC have lost focus in Kaduna State, it is crystal clear that anybody who risks boarding her ship is definitely heading for the rock.
Consequently, six members of of the Kaduna State House of Assembly, some elected Chairmen, Councillors and numerous progressives within the APC are expected to defect to the PDP in the coming days.
With the gleeful celebration of the defections from the ruling APC party into the People’s Democratic Party, PDP by the Reformed APC faction led by Senator Suleiman Hunkuyi, it all points to the fact that the R-APC in Kaduna State would soon be dissolving itself into the People’s Democratic party, PDP.
In a statement by Mock Samuel Kure,
Publicity Secretary of the Reformed All Progressives Congress, Kaduna State Chapter, he wrote recently that “as leaders of the Reformed All Progressives Congress, we have a responsibility of harvesting the other remaining Progressives from the doomed APC back into the fold of the PDP”.
That is an eye telling opener, added to the fact that Mock Samuel Kure was one of the publicists of the Kaduna state deputy governor, Mr. Bala Barnabas Bantex whose relationship with his principal has been frosty for quite a long while now.
