The Chairman, Plateau State Youth Council, Fabong Jemchang Yildam says it is highly regrettable, the manner some youths do present themselves to be used by some desperate citizens to achieve selfish ambitions.

Yildam, at a Press conference in Jos, the Plateau State capital , Sunday evening, said the attack on the convoy of Plateau State Governor, Simon Lalong after a visit to the Internally Displaced People’s Camp at the Geo -Sciences, Anguldi, Zawan on Saturday 14 July, 2018 is not justifiable.

He called the action, “an assault on the entire people of the state, and not just to the governor”, adding further that ” it is a clear demonstration of disrespect for the highly placed seat of the governor and the people of Plateau State.

“The well planned and much orchestrated attacks probably with external linkages has further weakened the ongoing confidence building process, despite the concerted efforts of all stakeholders, hoodlums have attempted to create panic by choosing high profile targets such as the convoy of the governor”.

He said the ugly occurrence is threatening to take the state back and create a sense of terror and will be resisted with stiffness.

” We call on the government to step up proactive measures to ensure that these hoodlums are brought to book, and should not renege on its primary responsibility of securing lives and properties “.

He appeals to citizens to remain vigilant and report suspicious movements around them to law enforcement agencies, so as to move the state forward devoid of violence.
