Much as many voters and I had looked forward to casting our votes today, we were frustrated out by the very tardy manner in which the election was, I think very deliberately conducted. As earlier reported, the electoral materials arrived after 12 noon. Even so the election material were not complete. The mother of all problems still is the fact that there are over 5600 registered voters here since 2015 which if broken down to 500 for a polling unit would have meant that Ungwan Boro should have had at least 7 polling units. If INEC could not do this for our people, it means that there Is a deliberate scheme to disenfranchise our people which is exactly what played out today under the watchful eyes of one of the foreign observers, Mr Adam Bergman of UNDP Abuja. I and many others had to finally bow out at about 1850 hrs without voting.
Our fear is that the situation is going to be worse during the Governorship and House of Assembly elections given that we are determined to overthrow the El Rufai dictatorship. Our understanding of the shortfall in the election materials for our 2 polling units is that this is a very deliberate plan to frustrate our people.
Since the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC told the world that it was ready for today’s elections, there can be no excuse for what played out and is still playing out at these 2 polling units. INEC has simply rigged us out of relevance in these 2 polling units and we are praying that there should not be a repeat performance in 2 weeks time.
