A public affairs commentator, Anas Sani Anka has written on what wise men say about the uncertainty of life, and whatever you want to do as a human being especially if it affects others, you need to do it with a high sense of caution for it just may come back to one in very little time.

“From December 2018 to the end of the Yari administration, Zamfara state Deputy Governor, Malam Ibrahim Wakkala was subjected to a very dehumanizing political frustration of his life simply because he refused to consent to the political decision of his Governor.

His only seeming crime was in his insistence that he should be given the right to contest for the post of Governor of Zamfara state, in the next regime. After all, the first democratically elected governor of the state, Sani Yerima extended that courtesy to his deputy, who duly succeeded him. And this is a constitutional right which he fought to protect but which finally led to a very expensive political humiliation to him.

According to a source privy to the political crises between the former Zamfara Governor and his Deputy, the Governor allegedly authorized his security details not to allow his Deputy any access to him and to make the situation more deteriorating he made sure that all entitlements which were legitimately due to the then deputy governor, were withheld.

At a point, Anas Sani Anka discussed the issue with the Press Secretary to the then deputy governor, Malam Yusuf Idris who informed him that, he and many other staff attached to the office of the Deputy Governor were denied their salaries for months.

Not only that, the Deputy Governor was almost rendered useless hence he has never assigned any responsibility by the Governor and even while he is seated at home, the Speaker, State House of Assembly or the Secretary to the State Government used to be assigned to act on behalf of the Governor.

Despite intervention from different quarters, the governor allegedly refused to heed to the advice of the elders and very respected citizens of the state by at least, allowing the Deputy Governor carry out his official functions and be paid his entitlements.

The wheels suddenly turned when the courts affirmed that the APC ruling party had no candidates in the elections from Zamfara State even as the least performing governor in the whole federation was Senate bound, a favourite retirement home for many former governors who have nothing else to do with their time.
In one fell swoop, all the elected All Progressives Congress, APC winning candidates, including Abdulaziz Yari were sacked from the posts they had won, and the People’s Democratic Party, PDP candidates were declared winners.

Suddenly, payback time arrived and the new state Governor, Bello Muhammad Matawalle appointed the same frustrated former deputy governor as the Chairman of the State Transition Committee and the Governor or any of his agents must provide in comprehensive manner, details of how the affairs of the government was run in the past eight years.

Yari and his co-travellers now understand that, nothing is permanent in life and the manner which he and his political allies treated the former deputy governor, denying him his constitutional entitlements including access to his official functions is now turning round to haunt them.

Now the Deputy Governor is in charge, and must be provided with the details of government transaction step by step as his rules of engagement indicate.

If he the former deputy governor fires back at Yari at this time, he has a cause. Many indiscreet misdemeanors that can indict him to a prison term due to a lot of shady deals and financial misappropriation that were allegedly spearheaded by Yari would be exposed to the investigation agencies, like the EFCC.

Abdulaziz Yari invited his political ordeal because he ran his government like a private business empire. He never respected other points of view and also ignored sensitive advice from learned people.

Even from the set up of his cabinet, there was nothing serious as one would have expected. He considered cabinet appointments as mere political compensation and this was why any body could be posted to any ministry and directorate without recourse to area of expertise and wealth of experience.

It is almost certain that Yari and his co-travellers are at this point scared of facing the victims of the political rascality of his government like Wakkala because they would surely face the music of their political wickedness.

Wakkala and the members of his team are enjoined to be thorough in accessing every bit of information regarding how Yari ran his government in the interest of saving the state and being a lesson to learn by the new government.

Yari should understand that, life is multi-dynamic and God doesn’t consult any one whenever he wants to shift the fortresses of power to whoever he desires to shift it to.

Not even in his dream, Yari never imagined that Wakkala can be politically relevant anymore but God in his wisdom and mercy has swapped the sorrow and painful situation for the duo.

One is laughing and the other one is crying now. This is how God teaches human beings lesson to learn.
