A leading opposition figure in the country, Nigeria’s former Aviation minister and former president Olusegun Obasanjo’s spokesman, Chief Femi Fani-Kayode has taken a harsh and critical look at the maze of killings in the country, describing them as “heartless and unacceptable”.

He said this in a Press release sent to the Oasis Reporters detailing the 700 days the Shi’ite leader, Sheik Ibrahim El Zakzakky has spent in confinement :

“Sheik El Zak Zakzakky , the leader of Nigeria’s Shi’ite Muslims, was shot and blinded in one eye, dumped in a wheelbarrow and has been illegally detained against court orders by the Nigerian security services for the last 700 days. So has his wife. This is heartless and unacceptable”.

He also mentioned Nnamdi Kanu:
“IPOB leader Nnamdi Nnamdi’s home was attacked, his staff, friends and supporters were slaughtered, his siblings were maimed, his parents were brutalised, his dogs were shot, his cars were burnt and he was abducted by the Nigerian Army. This is heartless and unacceptable”.

The constant and brutal assassinations by the well armed Fulani militias did not escape his chronicle of depressing killings, and he said :

“For the last two years and six months, well-armed government . sponsored Fulani militias have slaughtered, raped, maimed and robbed thousands of northern Christians, Middle Belters and southerners in Nigeria. Not one of them has been caught or arrested. This is heartless and unacceptable”.

The Oasis Reporters noted that Chief Kayode  was careful not to call the Fulani militias, herdsmen.
