Proposed Pen Resource University (PRU) Receives First NUC’s Inspection Team, Commends Work Done

Pen Resource University has received it’s first Inspection team from the National Universities Commission at its proposed site in Gombe, North East Nigeria.



Led by the head of the Directorate for the establishment of private universities, Mrs. Constance Goddy-Nnadi, the team was in the proposed Pen Resource University, Gombe for the first facility and verification inspection.

In his welcome address, the Director of the Pen Resource Academy, Gombe, Dr. Sani Jauro welcomed and commended the team members for being in Gombe for the PRU.

Dr. Sani Jauro expressed the fact that, staff of NUC have been aiding the process for the establishment of the University by advising on the steps needed for the establishment of the private University.

“We have been receiving support from the NUC since we started talking about the establishment of this University in 2007”.

Sani Jauro commended NUC’s Executive Secretary for the warm reception during their courtesy visit to his office in Abuja.

Jauro thanked the head of the Directorate for the establishment of private Universities, Mrs. Constance Goddy-Nnadi and her team for the first verification visit to the PRU.

In her remark during the visit, the NUC’s head of the directorate for the establishment of private Universities, Mrs. Constance Goddy-Nnadi commended the efforts of the Board and the members of the planning Committee.

Mrs. Constance described the visitation as the “First inspection Visit”, explaining that the purpose of the visit was to inspect and verify the facilities to make sure that what has been put in place is in line with the Commission’s guidelines on the establishment of private universities.


“I am highly pleased with the level of commitment put in place, we wish the quality of the facilities would give the best quality education that would be incomparable to any other in the entire northern part of the nation”, she said.

“The commitment put in place didn’t happen by surprise, the promoter, Dr. Jauro has the record of education and has followed through the process of education, he was in the academics before”, Mrs. Goddy-Nnadi added.

The head of the Directorate assured that, the team will report back to the commission and make sure that the commission has done all what is necessary within the very best of time.


Director, Academic planning of the National Universities Commission, Dr. N.B. Saliu, who was one of the team members that visited the proposed PRU also commended the management on the facilities that have been put in place that has inspired the historic journey that brought about the establishment of PRU.


Dr. N.B. Saliu further added that the historic journey that led to this University, started from the primary education level to the secondary school level which gave birth to an idea for the establishment of the tertiary institution, a well developed journey that will give the best quality university, and this must be commended.



In his closing remarks, the chairman, board of directors of the proposed Pen Resource Academy, Engineer Sunusi Sani Abdullahi appreciated the team for their first inspection visit to the proposed PRU as he equally commended the Executive Secretary of the commission for the historic and remarkable achievements recorded in the NUC.
