Former President Olusegun Aremu Obasanjo (left) has endorsed Peter Obi, ahead of the election in the first quarter of next year.

Obasanjo, Wike And Obi met in London. When Punch newspapers published the report, Obasanjo saw it. Then he retweeted with this comment:

“You know Obasanjo; if he believes in something, he works for it. His presence at the meeting was to convince Wike to support Obi. He believes the Labour Party’s presidential candidate is competent.”

One other thing that is making Wike look inconsistent in his relationship with his party is that no patriotic southerner is happy that the PDP was heavily dollarized to scuttle the turn of the South to the Presidency, going by the party’s Constitution.

When former president Goodluck Ebele Jonathan was believed to have usurped the turn of the north to the presidency, some northern politicians preferred to destroy the PDP so as to enable Jonathan fail in his re-election bid.

They indeed nearly killed the PDP and Jonathan indeed lost.

One man gave the party the fighting chance to survive. The man is Wike, who provided the grit and the elixir.

Those that destroyed the PDP are back to the party after a fruitless sojourn in the APC. But the former rebels now want to take over the PDP. And they don’t want the doctor that nursed it to health in the circle of power.

Thus, Wike’s battle is for the soul of the party. To get even and ultimately save the party for the future, he needs an alignment with the Labour Party.

So former president, Olusegun Obasanjo, on Thursday, met with the presidential candidate of Labour Party, Peter Obi; and the Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Wike, in London

The tweet by Chief Olusegun Obasanjo did not reveal details of the meeting, but speculations are rife that it was part of negotiations ahead of the 2023 presidential election.

Wike attended the meeting with his allies including Governor Seyi Makinde of Oyo State; Governor Samuel Ortom of Benue State; Governor Okezie Ikpeazu of Abia State and former Cross River State Governor, Donald Duke, among others.

What is common knowledge is that Obasanjo may not be overtly keen on having his former vice ascend to the presidency. He has his reasons which are in the public domain.

Meanwhile, the saga continues, as the countdown to the campaign commencements approaches fast.
