Gov. Rauf Aregbesola used the bait of free rice despite owed salaries to bounce back to power four years ago.
APC Candidate, Oyetola is mouthing miracles of expectations. What could he be hinting at again?

The All Progressives Congress governorship candidate in the September 22 election in Osun State , Alhaji Gboyega Oyetola who is also the Chief of Staff to Governor Aregbesola has urged voters in the state that includes all State government workers to continue to believe in governor Rauf Aregbesola on his avowed promise to uplift the fortunes of the State even as his administration prepares to wind down later in the year.

In all of Aregbesola’s almost eight years in the saddle of governance with Oyetola as his Chief of Staff, the sole characteristic of the administration has been to owe workers backlog of salary arrears and pensions as well as sinking the state further into a huge debt burden that would take generations of Osun grandchildren to pay back.
Little or nothing has been done to grow the state economy like Peter Obi did in Anambra state.

With barely one and a half months to the election between Aregbesola’s protégé and PDP’s Ademola Adeleke, they are promising miracles.

Oyetola stated this while exchanging views with his associates in office especially on issues of salary of workers and pension stipends. The APC candidate contended that the Governor before he took over the mantle of leadership had promised massive infrastructural development a promise they believe he has kept, though observers pull faces in sheer incredulity.

He said Ogbeni Aregbesola has promised to offset all arrears of salary and pension deductions and as such deserved to be trusted. He appealed to workers and pensioners to keep faith with all agreements with the government as they were all entered in good faith and sense of commitment.

He stated that the Governor deserves accolades going by what obtains in neighbouring states where the same economic downturn is affecting states finances. Yet Oyetola skillfully sidestepped the States that are buoyant even in lean times like Anambra state in the east and a some states in the north.

Hemmed in by massive debts, mind boggling backlog of worker’s salaries he could not pay at the verge of his re-election four years ago, Gov Rauf Aregbesola pulled a hat trick by releasing bags of branded ‘IRESI AREGBESOLA’ (Aregbesola Rice) freely to the public. They ate it, temporarily forgot their sorrows and returned him back to power.
Rice finished in one month and sorrows returned in double measure.
