Abducted Kankara School Boys Release: Who Are These Katsina Bandit Abductors And Why The Mind Games They Play ?

In the ongoing saga of the kidnap of Kankara school children, in Katsina State, and their arrival in Katsina, here are some of the things that we know.
Few hours after a video was released of Kankara School Boys in captivity, the armed gunmen finally released the students in Tsafe and put on their way from the border town between Zamfara and Katsina States, first to Gusau then finally to Katsina.
A source involved in the release told newsmen on Thursday, December 17, 2020 that all the abducted boys of Government Secondary School, Kankara in custody have been released.
“The Nigerian troops are with them now and on their way to Kankara,” he said.
The most important questions Nigerians want to know is this : who are these kidnappers that govern the wild bushes between Zamfara, Katsina, Kebbi and Kaduna States ?
Background information that has been gleaned from the events say that the Miyetti Allah played a crucial role in the release of the school children. It shows the influence of the Fulani sociocultural organization.
So who can the sociocultural organization have that much influence over if the kidnappers were not Fulani militia?
Therefore the kidnappers can be rightly said to be composed of largely Fulani cadres. And they know who to listen to.
In like manner, Boko Haram that is largely composed of Kanuri citizens can not listen or take instructions from the Fulani. They’ve been antagonistic rivals for centuries.
It is then right to conclude that the purported Boko Haram video demanding for the closure of Western schools except Islamiyya schools was mere opportunism. Boko Haram had nothing to do with the kidnapping. That video may have triggered some anger in the bandits camp who may prefer to distance themselves from Boko Haram. Hence they quickly bought into the idea of releasing the victims, as proof that they are distinct from Boko Haram.
