Anambra Guber: Choice Of PDP Running Mate Is Compensation To Ekwueme – Obaze

The PDP governorship candidate in the Anambra November 18, 2017 election, Oseloka Obaze has revealed that he picked his running mate, Mrs Chidi Ekwueme-Onyemelukwe as compensation for the former Vice President of Nigeria in the second republic, Dr. Alex Ekwueme.
Dr. Ekwueme has consequently thrown his support behind the governorship candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Mr Oseloka Obaze, ahead of the November 18 Anambra election.
Chidi Ekwueme-Onyemelukwe is his eldest daughter.
He made this known while addressing PDP members in his family house at Oko, Orumba North Local Government Area of the state, and said the time had come to send the ruling All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) in the state.
“APGA was able to steer the affairs of the state for 12 years as a result of the protracted crisis in PDP”, he said and added that
“time has come for us to take away power from APGA,” he said.
Ekwueme insisted that the November 18 poll would bring to an end, the fame of APGA in the state.
On his part, Obaze described Ekwueme’s endorsement of his candidacy and that of his daughter as “eloquent testimony of his position in the party.”

Analysts of the Anambra election were taken aback by Oseloka Obaze when he mentioned that the choice of Ekwueme’s daughter as his running mate was to compensate the former vice president.
Compensation to political godfathers has become a nightmarish word to Anambra people owing to the PDP’s frightening rule in Anambra state when an alleged godfather wrote fake election results that got Dr. Chris Ngige sworn in as governor of the state.
When he fell out with his estranged godfather over an alleged demand for three billion naira as political compensation, Chris Ngige was forced to resign because of a pre resignation letter he had signed before the election.
The breathtaking saga shocked the entire nation and the Supreme Court finally deposed Ngige. Thugs rode roughshod over government offices destroying valuable government assets that set Anambra state backwards, for years.
This is one reason why Anambra state seems set to choose a new party as their political vehicle to lead them to a brighter future.
