The National Board for Arabic and Islamic Studies (NBAIS) has come out to debunk the publication by Desert Herald Magazine that the Board pays it’s salaries and allowances.

The Acting Registrar of the Board, Prof. Muhammad Shafiu Abdullahi stated this in an interview with reporters in Kaduna, while debunking the allegation by Desert Herald Magazine, stating that it is the office of the Accountant General of the Federation (AGF) that is responsible for the payment of it’s staff emoluments, not the board

According to Prof. Muhammadu Shafiu Abdullahi, “the NBAIS is operating a CONRAISS salary scale and there is no way any staff or member of it’s management can divert salaries and allowances meant for staff of the Board”.

He also used the opportunity to counter the allegation that some staff of the Board were illegally suspended, adding that due process “is usually followed in suspending any staff found guilty just like any other organization, ministry, department and agency”.

The Acting Registrar advised journalists to always double check their facts before publication to avoid defamation or libel, which leads to misinforming the public.
