A Deputy National Chairman ( North) aspirant for the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Ambassador Umar Illya Damagum in the forthcoming national convention of the Party has promised to unite members of the party across the three geopolitical zones in the north.
He promises that he will judiciously use his office as Deputy National Chairman (North) to galvanize the interest of the party and its members in northern Nigeria to place the PDP in vantage position of clinching the 2023 presidential election.
Ambassador. Damagum who submitted his nomination form for the position on Monday at the PDP national secretariat in Abuja said he has been endorsed as consensus candidate by the North East for the position.
He told journalists that he has what it takes to occupy the exalted party position considering his wealth of experience as a party man of standing recognition.
“My plan is to make sure that in all the chapters all over the north, we have a cohesive party.
“Ours is to galvanize our supporters and drive reconciliation to the highest level so that we will come out much stronger before 2023 general elections. That will be my focus.
“Being knowledgeable about the North, being a participant in this party since inception, I know the gladiators in all of the northern states.
“ I have the capacity to reach out to them to persuade those that I am supposed to, even to those that have left PDP to come back because the party now has a new life,” Damagum said.
