David Oyedepo’s Church To Deal Its ‘Food To The Hungry’ At Easter In An Ibadan Branch

To make the temporary ‘have nots’ have something to eat at Easter marking the resurrection of Jesus Christ who was known in the Bible to have performed a miracle that gave bread and fish to the masses, a branch church of Winners Chapel (also known as Living Faith Church) in downtown Ibadan had exhorted members of his congregation to show care to the have nots by giving a Welfare offering.
Due to the economic situation in the country, not many could respond to the exhortation positively two weeks to the Easter celebration.
The branch on Iwo Road had seen a lot of it’s prominent members depart to Europe and the Americas in what they call ‘japa’, in Nigerian pidgin English parlance, meaning emigration.
As they were leaving over the years which intensified in the last few months as the country’s inflation reached an all time high in double digits.
Under one time President Jonathan, inflation was a single digit affair which was tolerable.
But the economy has seen some rude shocks with petrol pump prices shooting to unprecedented heights and food prices going out of hand.
Unknown to the Branch pastor and the Church, members of his congregation that emigrated to the UK and other destinations in Europe including the Americas had been coordinating and connecting via social media app, WhatsApp.
Knowing how difficult things are at home, they coordinated and pulled together a huge amount of money which they sent to the Welfare department of the Ibadan Branch church, urging them to buy bags of rice, Garri ( a cassava derivative) tubers of Yam, cartons of noodles and other food items to share to members in need of intervention.
So as the doors of the church are flung open on Sunday morning 31st of March, 2024, choruses of Thanksgiving would go up for the intervention from abroad and the Branch is expected to swell in numbers.
Concerned members are going to line up after the Easter service to collect their share of the food packages for cooking in their various homes.
At least no one would go hungry for a while as long as they are worshippers from the Church, either old or new members. And prayers would be offered for the continuous prosperity of all donors.
Living Faith Church has as David Oyedepo as its spiritual head with headquarters at Canaanland, Sango Ota in Ogun State, Nigeria.
