Police brutality has always been a major problem in all parts of the world and many of them keep getting away with the crimes they commit using the state machinery and arms in their possession.
Technology has thus exposed many of them and what some of the bad eggs amongst them used to indulge in out of sight and get away with is now being exposed through the use of ubiquitous cameras found everywhere in cell phones and other devices.
Therefore when some police officers were caught on camera running a vehicle over a man, the new Inspector General of Police, ordered the offending policemen to report to the Force Headquarters.
Watch Video: discretion adviced.
The Acting Inspector-General of Police, Olukayode Adeolu Egbetokun, has condemned the disturbing incident where a police team ran a vehicle over a citizen on Thursday June 29, 2023 at Ekpoma, Edo State.
The viral video shows the victim’s hand and leg tied as he was made to lie on the floor. Residents of the area were engaging the officers when the officer who was driving the bus, moved and climbed the victim. He stopped driving after the residents repeatedly yelled that the victim was under the car.
Watch the video on Twitter:
Nigerian police @police is extremely heartless. See how they knocked down this young man, and later crushed him. He is currently at Irrua Specialist hospital in Edo state, battling with his life 😭😭

A statement released by the spokesperson of the police command, CSP Olumuyiwa Adejobi, says the acting IGP has directed the erring policemen, who have been in detention in Edo State, to report to the Force Headquarters Abuja on Monday, July 3, for further action.
Adejobi added that members of the public, particularly the people of Ekpoma, are implored to remain calm as the present leadership of the NPF will not condone such an act of unprofessionalism and illegality.
Such illegalities must be troubling to the police top echelon because of the revulsion incidences of that type cause, as Nigerians saw the push back against the the law enforcement agency in the devastating attacks they received during the EndSARs that led to the unfortunate death of many innocent police officers who probably were never part of any vices.
To forestall such backlash, the top echelon of the force now visit such infractions with the full wrath of the law.

The whole world watched the Black Lives Matter crisis that engulfed the United States of America when George Floyd was killed as sport by a white officer officer kneeling on his neck while he was unable to breathe. A cell phone camera was on hand to record the assassination and broadcast to the world.
The event shook the whole world, and massive earth shaking events occurred from country to country, bringing hidden prejudices to the fore, and raising questions over settled assumptions.
