Defence Industries Corporation Of Nigeria Signs MOU With Greenfield University Kaduna

A private tertiary institution, Greenfield University Kaduna, recorded another milestone when the Director General of Defence Industries Corporation of Nigeria, DICON, Major General Victor Okwudili Ezeguwu led a high powered delegation of DICON top echelon staff comprising of Air cmdre F Ekpah-Director Of Production, Mr Iliya Kasa, Director Human Resources and Mrs Kike Bello, Director legal services came on a tour of the University.
The visit which took place on 15 July 2020 was meant to formalize the signing of a Memorandum of understanding between the two Kaduna based institutions.
A highly impressed Major General Victor Okwudili commended the Governing Council and Senate of GFU for establishing what he called “an emerging citadel of academic excellence”.
The DG further said that after having a tour of the university facilities, apart from being highly impressed, he had a better understanding what the working relationship between DICON and GFU would look like .
During the signing ceremony, the boss of DICON offered the management and students of Greenfield University the use of the laboratories, facilities and training institute which DICON has .
He said, ” by the signing of the memorandum of understanding, DICON has thrown open the doors of the following facilities for the use of your staff and students
•Chemical Laboratory
•Meturgical Laboratory
•Foundery
• Heat and Surface Treatment Laboratory
•Tranining Institute
• the use of their forklifts, cranes and other antiquated equipments .
An endowment fund of N200,000 was setup by DICON to be given to any graduating any student of GreenField University who would research on defence production that would be beneficial to DICON.
In his open address, the Pro-Chancellor of Greenfield University, Kaduna, Chief Engr. Simon Ifediora Nwakacha said the institution was set up with the vision to be the best in terms of teaching, learning, research and development, service to the community and the nation.
Engr Nwakacha added Greenfield University is the first and only approved university in Kaduna and was licensed since 2019 and it has commenced academic activities since .
Highlights of the ceremony included an exchange of gifts between General Ezugwu and Mr Simon Nwakacha.
