Miss Mmesoma Ejikeme

Nigeria’s former minister of Labour, Festus Keyamo, SAN, CON, FCIArb (UK) who tweets @fkeyamo and Dr. Aliyu Tilde, former Commissioner of Education in Bauchi state have both pleaded for Miss Mmesoma Ejikeme who was finally exposed in a case of Joint Admissions and Matriculations Board (JAMB)’s result falsification. The gentlemen believe that the young nineteen year old would have sufficiently learnt her lessons that shortcuts do not pay in the end.

Besides, the example and lessons learned would inform Nigeria’s teeming youths that engaging in forgeries and doctoring documents would only end in disgrace.

Barrister Festus Keyamo:

“I deliberately waited for the end of this investigation before commenting on this unfortunate case of our daughter, Mmesoma Ejikeme.

She’s a brilliant girl, judging by her actual score of 249. The nation should be careful not to destroy her.

What she needs is counselling, correction and guidance. She obviously did not know the weight and gravity of what she was doing. As teenagers, most of us made juvenile mistakes that never came to light.

The parents should encourage her to do a public apology to JAMB, to her family and to Nigerians after which she should be allowed to get her admission based on her actual scores. Anyone still pushing other narratives over this issue is not helping her and her family.

It is time to close this very unfortunate chapter and move on. This is my plea”.

Dr. Aliyu U. Tilde who tweets @Dr_AliyuTilde says, let’s pardon Mmesoma.

“She is our daughter driven by ambition to excel but society has shown her that there’s no shortcut. Now she and others like her fully understand that. Let’s allow her to move on. Let’s grant the plea of her father for pardon.

JAMB should pardon her and lift the 3 year ban. Give her the course she desires if her cut off marks qualifies her. I have no doubt that this experience will make her a great Nigerian in future. Forgiveness can leave a positive mark in the heart of a child that punishment may not.

I hope those who jump to support their tribesmen when they are wrong have also learned their lesson. JAMB and the police should fish out her adult accomplices and punish them.
