The Police in Delta state have assured visitors and athletes who are in the state for the one week long athletics championship “CAA ASABA 2018” of adequate security.

The Commissioner of Police in the state Muhammad Mustafa said there is no room for criminals during the games as his men and officer have been detailed and positioned in strategic places to monitor any criminal activity around the Stephen Keshi stadium.

He added that since this is the biggest sports event that has been hosted in Asaba with visitors from all over the world, it calls for adequate security and protection for all.

” I want to warn those who do not have any business around, all criminal elements to steer clear of Asaba and environs during the African athletics championship”.

Furthermore he said “Security has been beefed up around the hotels where athletes and visitors are lodged. There is already an operational order from the Commissioner of police that all our men should be placed in strategic positions within and around the venue. There is no doubt about it that this is the biggest sporting event to be hosted in Asaba. All we can assure the entire world and Africans coming to the games is that they should be rest assured that they are adequately protected and are safe in Asaba”
Meanwhile all the roads leading to the Stephen Okechukwu stadium have been closed to traffic as all vehicular movements have been diverted to other routes to decongest traffic around the vicinity for proper policing.
