Images of the Kaduna State APC deputy governor elect, Dr. Hadiza Balarabe said to be inaugurating herself as the Transition Committee Chairperson is to treat the people of the state with utter contempt, for in the first place, she is not an elected member of the state government. She will be, only when she has been sworn in on May 29, 2019.

Understandably, the State governor, Nasir El Rufai is said to be unavoidably absent, resting after a hectic campaign period that must have been energy sapping. In the official absence of the deputy governor and the speaker of the House of Assembly, the next state government official is the Deputy Speaker of the House. He ought to take over the reins of administration, pending when the governor returns from his rest.
This is about the rule of law.

With the current spate of insecurity especially in Kajuru, Southern Kaduna, said to have experienced so many deaths, this is absolutely the wrong time to leave a state without a clear transmission of power.

The Transition Committee ought to have been inaugurated by the Deputy Speaker of the State House of Assembly. Not the Deputy Governor-elect who can only be said to be an elected leader, after the inauguration and swearing-in on May 29, 2019. Not a day before.
