Right after the defeat of his protégé Olusola Eleka at the Ekiti State gubernatorial polls, the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission EFCC) on Sunday hinted that it is dusting off its shelves the case of the integrated poultry project against Ayodele Fayose, governor of Ekiti state.
The anti-graft agency disclosed this in a tweet on Sunday, July 15, saying: “The parri is over; The cloak of immunity torn apart, and the staff broken. #Ekiti Integrated Poultry Project/Biological Concepts Limited N1.3bn fraud case file dusted off the shelves. See you soon.”
Observers of the EFCC tactics of populist trial by media sensation recall that the case started since 2007 after Ayodele Fayose’s impeachment during his first tenure and for seven years without Immunity, the EFCC was more or less like a bulldog. Few cases have been won by the agency, plagued by incompetent or shoddy investigations and lack of compelling evidence. It currently goes after the opponents of any government in power, or those who have fallen out of favor with the President.
