Ekiti 2018: Fast Thinking Fayose, Always Ahead Of The Opposition In Strategy

Ayodele Fayose points to his deputy ,’I trust in the capabilities of Prof. Kolapo Olusola Olubunmi.
Let him take over from me’.

Is there anyone in Ekiti State’s All Progressives Congress (APC) who will say he or she is getting exactly what they envisaged would be happening by now in the state?

Only yesterday, the above question was asked during a friendly argument between one of my APC friends and I.

No two ways about it, things are tough for members of the main opposition party in Ekiti state. Their expectations that the state would have become chaotic by now, and that they would have penetrated it have been largely unrealized. The reverse is the case and what they are getting is the shocking reality that their party will lose the 2018 gubernatorial election.

In all honesty, by this time in the first tenure of Gov. Peter Ayodele Fayose, the government was characterized by numerous crises both within and outside the governor’s party and the expectation of our brothers in the opposition was that Fayose won’t be able to tolerate the heat from them this time around. Their miscalculation has remained wide off the mark.

As far as I know, no member of the opposition party in Ekiti is happy with the developmental projects of the governor. Even those members of the elite class who are not relevant in their wards except on social media have been disappointed to see the governor performing wonders in the state.

My experience so far on Ekiti politics since 2014 is enough to say Fayose is not doing well for members of the opposition party.

How could a giant and courageous governor like Fayose run government successfully without parading thugs or promoting hooliganism?

Fayose does not have a killer squad like it was during the tenure of the choice of the elite and no politically motivated killing has occurred in the state since Fayose got to power in 2014.

I got to know the real position of APC in the state on Fayose after reading one nonsensical press release circulated on social media by one of the governorship aspirants in the state, disparaging the governor because he has a good rapport with everybody, including those aspiring to succeed him within the opposition ranks. Though that one (the aspirant) is just an attention seeker, so I don’t need to dignify him by mentioning his name.

The governor’s media handlers too are not helping the opposition party, they are causing more trouble for our brothers in the opposition because they don’t allow lies against the governor to fly.
Kudos to Lere Olayinka and his insurmountable team!

Let me say those APC boys doing PR for the party on social media have nothing to post against Gov. Ayodele Fayose for he has refused to make the type of political mistakes that sent his predecessor, Dr. Kayode Fayemi packing. All the same, they must come up with something to impress their leaders with. They know that if an election were to be conducted today in the state that the APC will lose.

Let me conclude by giving a piece of advice to our brothers who want to be Osoko and Lere Olayinka of Ekiti APC to buckle up. They still have a long way to go before they can be known like the men they are following.

Lee Iacocca, former head of Chrysler once said, “when the product is right, you don’t have to be a great marketer”.
The person who advised the governor to prefer his deputy, Prof. Kolapo Olusola to other aspirants in his party must be an accurate thinker!
Only God knows how the governor’s faculty rolls, for he thinks faster and ahead of his political foes.
