One can only set a record if he is the first or the only person to achieve a certain feat, also before a record could be said to be broken, another person must have surpassed the achievements of the former. The lovers of football or supporters of Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo will understand my gist here.
In the case of Gov. Peter Ayodele Fayose of Ekiti State, records are just being set and in a couple of days he might set another landmark record by being the first governor in the history of the state to endorse, work and use his structure to install his deputy as governor.
It is no more news that Fayose is the first person to defeat two incumbent governors in different elections.
It won’t be out of place to reemphasize that the first and only flyover bridge in Ekiti which will be commissioned tomorrow, May 25, 2018 is Fayose’s initiative.
We need no one to tell us that the only computer village in the state (Fayose Market) was constructed by the gallant man.
The only state hotel (Fountain Hotel) in Ekiti was built by the Afao man.
Fayose was the only governor in Ekiti who was “impeached” and came back to contest election after eight years to defeat an incumbent governor.
Fayose was behind the dualization of roads in the state.
It is only in Fayose’s tenure that Ekiti came first consecutively in the National Examination Council (NECO).
The first deputy governor of the state who lost her life while in service, Mrs. Adunni Olayinka of the All Progressives Congress (APC) was immortalized by Gov. Fayose of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) by naming the office of the First Lady after the deceased.
As a result of his boldness and courage, Fayose is the first and only Ekiti son ever to have played the role of opposition leader in the country.
If the deputy governor and PDP candidate for the July 14 election, Prof. Kolapo Olusola-Eleka who is celebrating his 50th birthday today wins the election, it will be Fayose’s greatest achievement as all the good works he started in the state will be improved upon, sustained and maintained in the best interest of our state.
God bless our dear Ekiti.
