In a deft move to satisfy the small but important Muslim community in Ekiti State, the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) leadership in Ekiti State has picked the immediate past Chairman of Ado Local Government, Hon. Kazeem Deji Ogunsakin, as the running mate to its gubernatorial candidate, Prof Kolapo Olusola Eleka.
According to information from the Party, the decision was reached today, after extensive consultations with various stakeholders, including the youths and, by extension, the Muslim community in the State.
The choice of 39-year-old Economist and banker was informed by the need to involve the younger generation in the governance of the State in line with the global trend as well as give the Muslim community in the State a sense of belonging.
“Furthermore, it is our belief that Ado-Ekiti, being the State capital with the largest voting population, deserves consideration for the deputy governorship position”.
The PDP Deputy Governorship candidate is a graduate of Economics from the Ekiti State University, Ado Ekiti who also holds a Master’s degree in Business Administration from the University of Lagos. Until his nomination, he was the head of the Due Process Office.
The statement signed by Chief Gboyega Oguntuase, Ekiti State Chairman of the PDP equally adds that the deputy governorship candidate was a banker before joining politics.
