Senator Biodun Olujimi

I know the power women wield in nation building, so my intention is not to undermine nor degrade our women in politics but to just pass across a very simple message on the governorship ambition of a female senator in Ekiti.

I have been expecting those experienced leaders in the Peoples’ Democratic Party (PDP) wining and dining with Senator ‘Biodun Olujimi to give her a piece of advice that she needs not spoil her relationship with her chief political benefactor (Chief Ayodele Fayose) because of her governorship ambition.

Considering our level of political immaturity in the state, the senator should mellow down for now and be part of the continuity agenda of her party in the state.

I don’t deceive myself. The lady is endowed with the needed qualities to run for any political post in this country but the truth is that in spite of the popularity of the ruling party in Ekiti, if the party mistakenly picks a woman as her flag bearer, I can boldly say the general election will just be a walk over for those who are already boasting of fighting the party with “federal might”.
In my humble opinion, those men pushing her should be bold enough to tell her the naked truth by cautioning her to stop making adverse comments on her governor.

As a young man who knows the power of loyalty in politics, I will say it again that there is nothing special that “Eleka” did as a deputy governor of Ekiti State for his boss than being loyal to him.
If it were by political experience and financial wherewithal; our respected senator will definitely defeat the humble professor but on loyalty, Gov. Ayodele Fayose whom Olujimi served under is in the best position to give account on her loyalty. But with all that has been coming out lately from the sophisticated senator since Fayose suddenly threw his weight behind Eleka, one can begin to pick his pen to write on the uncongenial stories on the uncivil loyalty of the lawmaker.

Olujimi, as the first female deputy governor in Ekiti state is no doubt one of the people who have benefitted most as a politician from the regime of Gov. Ayodele Fayose and if the governor is not supporting her to succeed him, she should just take it in good faith and maintain mutual cooperation with the governor instead of any untoward attitude being exhibited so far.

The distinguished senator should forget about waging a media war against Fayose for to a very large extent, he remains her benefactor.Fayose beyond being a governor is an adult with the right to endorse his choice of candidate. There is no gainsaying that his strength cannot be undermined by any politician in the state.

Lastly, Senator ‘Biodun Olujimi should do away with anything that can make her go into political oblivion. She should stop listening to those greedy men with dwindling political strength. With patience and the right attitude, her time will come.
