Elections Tribunal Grants APC Leave To Inspect, Make Copies Of Electoral Materials In Sokoto

The Governorship and National Assembly Elections Petitions Tribunal in Sokoto state has granted All Progressive Congress (APC) governorship candidate, Ahmad Aliyu, leave to inspect used election materials and serve Governor Aminu Waziri Tambuwal through substituted means.
Tribunal Chairman, Justice Abbas Abdullahi granted the prayers made by lead Petitioner’s Counsel, Mr Steve Nwokehe.
Justice Abbas Abdullahi granted the petitioners’ leave to physically inspect materials used by the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC in the conduct of the main governorship election and re-run election, photocopy of documents as well as obtain true certified copies.
He further granted petitioners leave to serve Governor Aminu Tambuwal through substituted means as prayed along with People’s Democratic Party legal adviser, Mr Mukhtar Yabo.
Meanwhile, Justice Abbas Abdullahi has also granted Governor Tambuwal and his party, PDP leave to invite forensic experts to conduct a physical inspection of materials used during the elections and obtain true certified copies of documents.
Justice Abbas Abdullahi further granted respondents applicants prayers moved by their Counsel, Mr Mukhtar Yabo, on relying on the outcome of physical inspection, statistics sought by forensic experts as well as leave to file head votes in respect of the governorship election.
It could be recalled that dissatisfied with the outcome of the election, the APC governorship candidate Ahmed Aliyu had approached the tribunal challenging the return of Aminu Waziri Tambuwal as Governor-elect for Sokoto state.
