Ex Police IG And Arewa Consultative Forum Chairman, Ibrahim Coomassie Dead

Alhaji Ibrahim Coomassie has passed on Thursday evening at 76 years old.
He was the longest serving Inspector General Of Police ( (1993 – 1999)
after Kam Salem (who served 1966 – 1974).
As a former Inspector General of Police, he served about three Heads of State in Nigeria from General Ibrahim Babangida to Ernest Shonekan, then Generals Sani Abacha to Abdulsalami Abubakar before his retirement when Chief Olusegun Obasanjo became a democratically elected president in 1999.
Ibrahim Coomassie, a Katsina native, served as Nigeria’s 9th IGP from 1993-1999 during the draconian reign of military dictator, General Sani Abacha. He was succeeded by Musiliu Smith and preceded by Alhaji Aliyu Attah
Until his demise on Thursday, he was the Chairman, Arewa Consultative Forum . died at the Orthopedic Hospital in Katsina, after suddenly falling sick.
His brother, Dahiru confirmed his demise to the media.
The former police chief, turbaned the Sardauna Katsina of Emir of Katsina and Garkuwan Hausa of Emir of Daura, left behind his wife, six children and many grandchildren.
He has been buried according to Islamic rites after the Jumaat prayers at the Bani Coomassie Mosque in GRA.
