Ekiti State governor and chairman of Nigeria’s Governors’ Forum, Dr. Kayode Fayemi.

The attention of the Grassroots Movement for Change, Ekiti chapter has been drawn to the purported plot by the incumbent governor of the state to use the state apparatus in favour of his choice candidate.

Let us make this very clear that the attempt will be vehemently resisted as the will of the people must come to fruition.

Governor Fayemi has enjoyed a relatively peaceful tenure in his time; one would therefore wonder why he would involve himself in any arrangement that is capable of setting our dear state on fire.

We are calling on all stakeholders and lovers of peace to rise up and ensure that our dear state does not drift into anarchy due to the selfish interest of a microscopic few.

The people should be allowed to vote their choice candidate without any fear of manipulation. We have worked so hard to wrestle power from the opposition and we will not sit back and watch it drift away especially when this election seeks to present a fresh candidate for the first time in a long time in our electoral history.

The attention of all well meaning individuals, corporate bodies and civil organizations are hereby drawn to this purported evil.

Finally, for the those who seek to enslave us by collecting money to mortgage our future, be warned that Ekiti state is not like every other state in Nigeria. Our people will rise up and their voices will be heard.

We therefore, call on the national caretaker committee extraordinaire under the leadership of Governor Buni to call his committee to order and avert any form of mortgage on the will of the people.
