Femi Fani-Kayode (left), requests a rescheduled meeting with the office of IGP Idris.

Police waiting for Femi Fani-Kayode’s arrival for a scheduled “fact finding” interrogation on issues bordering on “CONSPIRACY, CRIMINAL DEFAMATION, INCITING PUBLICATION, INJURIOUS FALSEHOOD AND CONDUCT LIKELY TO CAUSE A BREACH OF THE PEACE”, may have a postponed day to wait at the Police gate. Femi Fani-Kayode will not be there, August 28.

Chief Kayode’s counsel has already written to the Inspector General of Police for the attention of CP Habu A. Sani PSC, FCAL requesting for a rescheduling of the appointment in respect of the police invitation.
And in respectfully requesting for the rescheduling of the appointment at a later date, either “the 4th or 5th day of September, 2018, subject to the convenience of your office and officers”, the former Minister of Tourism and Culture, former Minister of Aviation, he seems to have good grounds.

His grounds are that the invitation came at “short notice”. The date on the letter was August 20, 2018 but was delivered only on the 24th of August for an appearance on the 28th day of August, 2018.

Secondly the date for the appointment clashes with a previously scheduled engagement bordering on, and including the on-going Nigerian Bar Association Conference which he is participating in as well as hosting a number of delegates. Therefore it might make it difficult or rather impossible for him to “honour the invitation on the scheduled date”.

Meanwhile, Femi Fani-Kayode would want specific details on what the police really wants, since the invitation letter under reference “appears vague and ambiguous in it’s form”. The Police did not mention the name(s) and person(s) complaining against ”him and on what particular subject matter his presence is required”.

Femi Fani-Kayode is therefore “constrained to politely request that he be furnished with essential particulars of the purpose of his visit to” the police in order to “adequately prepare for the said interview”.

Kayode assures the police of his “esteemed regards”, promising to appear once the clarifications have been made .
