Caleb Manasseh Mutfwang, governor of Plateau State

I am sure you are getting conversant with my letters from the Little Desk of Rayfield. The letters I write to you is a means for me to provide you with updates and to be able to share my future plans with you. Each letter will contain updates of the week I had, the visitors I received, and the future plans I have for Plateau state.

The theme of today’s letter is ‘Accountability Insights’.

The one attitude the government is striving to promote is the spirit of accountability. I strongly believe that a Governor or a Leader who is accountable to his followers will never have anything to hide.  In the spirit of being accountable, I gave my first statewide broadcast since my Inauguration as the Governor of Plateau State.

I felt the need to update the people of Plateau State on our efforts in rebuilding the foundations of our dear state. As your leader in service, I owe you a duty and responsibility to regularly update you on the state of affairs as we continue to put in place the right approaches and strategies to ameliorate the challenges we face.

In summary I re-informed the People of Plateau State that we have set the machinery of the law in motion, and it will soon take its course in bringing individuals that seek pleasure in robbing the state of its progress through Illicit schemes. We have cleared the backlog of salaries and have paid up to July 2023, while that of August will commence in the coming days.

By the Grace of God, the daily attacks on our people have significantly reduced. I must express my gratitude to His Excellency, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, the President, Federal Republic of Nigeria, who made a commitment to address the security challenges in our state.

There is also significant progress being made by the administration through the Plateau State Direct Labour Agency in road maintenance across Jos-Bukuru metropolis. I am very aware the expectations from the people are high. The celebrations that greeted my declaration as Executive Governor of Plateau State are a constant reminder that my team and I must not fail you.

In a bid to enhance the educational development, agriculture, and the solid mineral sector for generating employment opportunities for our youths. I expressed a strong desire to collaborate with the French Government. The state house was paid a courtesy visit by Her Excellency, Mrs Emmanuelle Blatmann, the Ambassador of the French Republic to Nigeria and her delegation. We have ongoing projects that were initiated by the French Embassy in Plateau State, particularly in the fields of education, agriculture and mining.

Plateau state has significant untapped tourism potential. As the ‘Home of Peace and Tourism’ we aim to explore all avenues for collaboration. We are fully committed to working with our development partners.

In a bid to ease the transport concerns of the citizens of Plateau state, the State Government and the Nigerian Railway Commission are partnering to revamp the Rail Tracks in our state. An inspection was carried out over the weekend by the Railway District Manager, North Central District, the Commissioner of Police Nigerian, Railway, Ebute Metta, Lagos, the Director of Land and Estate Services, Railway Property Ltd and the Director of Corporate Planning, Nigeria. I have promised that the government will give its full cooperation to the commission to ensure that the rail tracks are fixed and safe to use within a reasonable amount of time for the people of Plateau.

We promised the good people of Plateau State that we would always listen to you and strive to do the best for the good of our people and our state. I will continue to share updates with you from the Desk of Little Rayfield.

Talk to you again soon.

Signed: Caleb Manasseh Mutfwang.
