Marian Nwanne Obuseh, Umunede-Agbor born, best Engineering graduate, 2017/18 graduating set at the University of Ibadan

When a manufacturing company runs into stormy waters with a plethora of problems, chances are that it would call a certified management consultancy to bail her out. So the consultancy firm sends over their best hand.. And she’s a young pretty girl, a Production and Industrial Engineering expert.

Before you shout, ‘whaaat, a lady engineer?’
Hold your breath. The lovely lady is primus inter pares, Engr. Obuseh Marian Nwanne. She’s a First Class graduate of Industrial and Production Engineering, University of Ibadan, Nigeria’s premier university in the south west of the country. She’s the overall best graduating Faculty of Technology student that harvested several First Class graduands, but Marian led, and she’s currently in contention to grab the best graduating student position in the 2017/18 set of the Ivy League university.

At the induction ceremony into the Nigerian Society of Engineers(NSE), April 12, 2018, Marian Nwanne Obuseh was called to the dais for the best Faculty of Technology graduating student’s speech. The dazzling beauty stirred souls with a moving speech, thanking almighty God for his grace then called her parents to the dais for high honor. Many a father dropped a tear, and could have gladly dropped a million Naira just to stand there for a second with the best graduating student. It was so moving.

The Nigerian Society of Engineers(NSE) laid at her feet, several career choices and many gifts to the beaming smiles of the young lady.

The Oasis Reporters cornered her for a chat :

Miss Obuseh, congratulations.

Thank you.

Where are you from and which secondary school prepared you for a moment like this?

“ I am from the Ika speaking area of Delta State in the south south of Nigeria but I attended Oritamefa Baptist Missionary School in Ibadan.

“I did my last Industrial Attachment, first in Lagos, but concluded it at the British American Tobacco Company, BAT in Ibadan. The experience was simply awesome and quite new to me.

What career choices would you pick from after your National Service?

The Induction Ceremony on April 12, 2018 at the Faculty of Technology, University of Ibadan.

“My choices are open. But it should be between Management Consultancy, Industrial production, or a role in the energy sector. Perhaps something new altogether.

Would you consider an option in teaching, perhaps after your further degrees?

“I would want the government to sort out the raison d’etre behind the incessant crises in the academia. Then the sector would receive a boom”, and she laughed.

Congratulations, Marian Nwanne Obuseh.
