A life dedicated to service, peace, and humanity. Jimmy Carter leaves behind a legacy of compassion and resilience that inspired the world. My deepest condolences to his family and all who admired him. Rest in peace, a true statesman.
RIP to President Jimmy Carter. He did more for society post-presidency than he was able to accomplish in his one term, and he set a very high bar for leadership, dignity, and humanity as a former president- and human being. A legend.
Nigerians remember Jimmy Carter for his great works in the provision of clean safe drinking water for Communities affected by guinea worm infestation due to a lack of potable drinking water in Nigeria.
Besides, as US President, he visited Nigeria during the military regime of Lt.Gen. Olusegun Obasanjo (1976-1979) and they forged a bond of friendship.

Therefore during the military regime of General Sani Abacha who extra judicially executed the Ogoni 9, to intimidate the Niger Delta communities and become an oil czar as well as military president, he attempted to execute as many Nigerian patriots that opposed him, the planned execution of General Obasanjo in prison was effectively stopped by Jimmy Carter.
Obasanjo and a few others had been roped into a phantom coup plot. While in prison, political prisoners who had managed to smuggle in a cellular phone into prison gave it to Obasanjo who immediately made a desperate call to Jimmy Carter in the US.
The ex president wasted no time in galvanizing American and global opinions against the dastardly plot of Abacha’s regime.
Abacha had no choice but to stay action temporarily. Obasanjo still remained his prisoner until the then Head of State died in the arms of imported Indian ladies of consort.
Obasanjo finally left prison and within a few months was on his way to the Nigerian presidency.
