Mantu Heads Dialogue Committee To Pick Plateau PDP Consensus Guber Candidate

As part of the strategization plans to strengthen it’s house ahead of the 2019 general election, the Plateau State chapter has constituted a Five Man Dialogue Committee to harmonize the Governorship aspirants in the state.
The committee which has the former senate President, Ibrahim Nasiru Mantu as chairman is to meet with all aspirants within one week to work out ways of producing a consensus candidate or trim down their interests and synergies towards producing a credible candidate that could beat the All Progressive Congress, APC in the 2019 gubernatorial race.
Inaugurating the committee at the party’s secretariat on Monday, the PDP chairman, Hon. Damishi T. Sango said at the moment, the party has on its records, ten aspirants all from the southern zone who have purchased forms to contest for the governorship primaries.
He said the committee is however significant and timely, so as to mediate and make them understand the reasons they should not allow personal interest to override that of the party.
He disclosed that the party cannot afford to lose the governorship seat in the State again come 2019, saying he has confidence on the Eminent Elders Committee headed by Senator Mantu, saying Mantu has over 40 years of Political experience and the party has trust on the committee.
While speaking for the committee Senator Mantu pledged not to make mistakes in streamlining the number of governorship aspirants.
“We will do our best to ensure that all the aspirants are united together, because together we stand and divided we fall’.
He cautioned the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP not to repeat the mistake of 2015 in the State again.
The members of the committee include a former minister, Hon. M. I. Musa, former Plateau State Speaker Rt. Hon. Emmanuel Goar, Barr. Mrs. Justina Vrengle and Hon. John Akson.
The Committee is expected to complete its assignment and report back to the State Working Committee of the PDP in the State before the conduct of the PDP primaries scheduled for the 27th of September, 2018.
