Videos of civilian rescuers have been seen urging the Ibadan Electricity Authority to ensure that power is not switched on so as not to imperil rescuers and victims who are battling to survive do not have additional troubles with collapsed buildings and hanging wires.

The serene city of Ibadan in Nigeria’s South West is experiencing this kind of security problem for the first time in recent memory.
No one is yet able to pinpoint what the actual source of the explosion could be.
Is it a bomb blast?
A gas explosion?
A fuel tanker on fire?
What?
Ibadan City is worried and the telephone lines of local radio and television stations are jammed as worried citizens are phoning in to find out what is going on.
