Coming on the heels of his earlier address to Hon. Abike Dabiri-Erewa, Chair/ ED, Nigerian Diaspora Commission, US based Rights lawyer Emmanuel Ogebe has issued another statement condemning the recall of Nigeria’s High Commissioner back to Abuja, the country’s capital.

He has that “Our High Commissioner ought to have remained to coordinate assistance to victims (of xenophobic attack). The South African High Commissioner should have been expelled to go home and sort it out. Buhari seriously wants to send Nigerian police to South Africa ?
“Expelling a diplomat is the highest diplomatic censure. If only the South African Ambassador had been expelled, he would have returned home to impress it on his government about the gravity of the situation. It would now be up to RSA to determine if they would expel Nigeria’s Ambassador. That would be tough because it would be insult upon injury and very bad optics. We would have had a tactical and diplomatic win.
“ By recalling our Ambassador we have lost our presence at the table to press our point at the highest level and coordinate responses . Completely stupid and tactless move”.
