Many indigenous Northern minorities citizens in Kaduna, Katsina, Plateau, Benue etc who suffered a lot of anguish at the brutalities of some renegade ethnic Fulani herdsmen militia hell bent on cleansing them from their ancestral lands appear to be in moods of celebration at the twilight of Muhammadu Buhari’s regime that would expire on May 29, 2023.

The people are rejoicing in the hope that the trauma they suffered at the hands of the militias may be coming to an end. Many of them are brandishing certificates of survival.

Many of them have brightened their countenance even in internally displaced camps in the hope that a properly constituted Nigerian army would chase out the bandits who chased them out of their villages and forcefully occupied them to rear their cattle and devastate their homes, lands and farms to push them into destitution and death.

The numbers of people who died in the hands of ransom seeking kidnappers because they could not raise the millions of naira requested for by the kidnappers are sadly many.

The bandits felt entitled to hold rifles due to the seeming protection and collaboration they get from renegade security men.

A lot of commentators believe that any government would be better than Buhari’s government. They are looking forward to better days.
