NSCDC Nabs Three Suspected Vandals And Thieves Of Disco facilities In Plateau

The department of Nigeria Security and Civil Defense Corps, NSCDC, says it has arrested three persons whose stock in trade is vandalizing /stealing transformers belonging to the Power Holding Company of Nigeria, PHCN.
The commandant Plateau State chapter of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps ,NSCDC, Mr Abdullahi Muhammadu told our correspondent that in the recent operations, over six transformers have been recovered from them.
He issued out directives to prosecute those 3 members of the syndicate who specialize mostly on stealing and vandalizing equipment.
He said the command is dogged in it’s determination to see that the activities of illegal miners in the country and in Plateau state are brought under control by arresting and prosecuting the perpetrators.
According to him, NSCDC is set to intensify all efforts to checkmate activities of economic saboteurs who are selling fuel above the normal prices, adding that he has declared that his command would leave no stone unturned in ensuring that all fuel marketers in the state abide by the law while carrying out their normal businesses.
Muhammadu explained further that they will soon be taking the suspects to court to face prosecution in court to put an end to illegal mining without paying royalties to the government.
He disclosed that those who are hoarding or engaging in fuel black market deals, should remember that economic sabotage is a punishable offence under the Nigerian law .
The Commandant revealed that members of staff of the corps are well prepared to embark on thorough prosecution of illegal miners so as to improve the revenue base of the country .
