October 22, 2025

I received with sadness the news of the passing of veteran broadcaster and actor, Pa Sam Osamede, fondly known as “Chief Ajas,” in the 1980s sitcom Hotel De Jordan.
Pa Osamede belonged to an era defined by high professionalism and deep artistic purpose in Nigeria’s broadcasting industry. Alongside his illustrious colleagues, Idemudia and Kokori, he used the power of storytelling to teach morals, good behaviour, and community values, leaving an indelible mark on television and popular culture in then Bendel State (now Edo and Delta States).
His craft was not only a source of entertainment but also a moral compass for society. Through Hotel De Jordan, he and his colleagues mirrored the discipline, humour, and humanity that characterized the golden age of Nigerian broadcasting.
Pa Osamede’s passing is a great loss to the creative community, but his legacy of excellence and moral artistry will continue to inspire generations.
I extend heartfelt condolences to his family, colleagues, and all who were touched by his remarkable life.
May his soul rest in perfect peace.

Governor, Edo State (2016–2024)
