When the polls opened on Twitter to test the acceptability or wide popularity of it’s leading candidates, Nigerians hungry for a forward leap for the nation, easily picked Peter Obi ahead of the pack.

Peter Obi easily became the hot favourite because he has street cred and a towering pedigree.
Who really would not want a President who was once a governor that left excess 75 billion naira in the kitty for his successor after clearing obvious liabilities?

Former joint ticket holders are now top contestants for the same PDP ticket. At 10.6 % for Atiku and 78.1% for Obi, the metrics this year are sharp.
It would be recalled that he met the state at zero minus in terms of revenue at a time so much infrastructure had been destroyed by political brigandage of status quo apologists.
It seemed so easy to pick him.
But that’s not all.
Four years ago, Ibrahim Hassan Dankwanbo, then governor of Gombe State swept the poll on Twitter. But on ground with dollars and euros dominating the voting arena, the man woefully lost at the PDP Convention center in Port Harcourt. Atiku Abubakar got the ticket.

That’s good enough warning to Peter Obi’s supporters and the man himself. They can only be carried away with Twitter win at their own peril.
There’s currently a quartet of hard boiled political calculators led by Saraki, Mohammed and Tambuwal up and about, trying to pigeon hole the PDP into what they call consensus candidature. Many people believe that it is a Trojan horse to scheme the South out of their insistence on a southern Candidacy for the country.
If the mainly traditional politicians who are adept at political ‘horse trading’ are, as Nigerians know, behind this Trojan horse, then Nigerians eager for a change should not shout eureka yet. Power merchants know their game well.
Obi has been touring all the regions quietly, taking his message to the grassroots.
