Osun State: Approval For The Construction Of Akoda, Okegada, Ofatedo Road, ‘A dream Come True’

Sometime in August last year one fateful evening, my boss and honorable member representing Ede Federal Constituency called me on the line to give me a task to go dig out all the background information and history of the Station road in Ede which happens to be the only link road that we have in the town.
Within 48 hours hours, my report was ready and I forwarded it to him through our internal procedure. He acknowledged receipt and sought that I also liaise with the Senior Special Assistant in Abuja. When I asked questions, Hon. Bamidele Salam said he is passionate about having that road fixed and even dualized under his tenure. He said he will be pushing for it on the floor of the House of Representatives.
A month or so later, Mr Bamidele Salam made good his promise when he moved the motion under the privilege of motion for urgent public importance on the floor of the House in September. He had developed the background motion and transformed it into an elaborate blueprint vide his legislative acumen.
In the aftermath of his performance on the floor, we, his legislative aides watched the video of the event as he moved the motion on Ede station road covering Akoda/Cottage/Agip/Atapara/Okegada/Ofatedo axis. We were very proud that Ede had come to national prominence in the hallowed chamber.
After the debating, Hon.Bamidele Salam did not rest on his oars. He wrote to the Federal Emergency Road Management Agency, FERMA and The Minister for Works, Raji Fashola on the Ede road. The Rep Member again wrote again to remind the Minister and requested for an audience even during the lockdown occasioned by Covid-19. The Minister granted the request by the eloquent Honourable member representing Ede Federal Constituency and approved a virtual meeting because of the Covid-19 protocols. Rep Bamidele Salam told some of us that he will talk further with the Minister to graciously allow the meeting to be physical and actual because to have the Ede station road fixed, he did not want to leave anything to chance. He wanted a direct and bankable commitment of former governor Fashola who is now the Minister for Works.

Almost one year after, we are happy to announce the kind approval of the honorable minister upon the clearance by the Federal Executive Council, FEC under President Muhammadu Buhari GCFR. From Akoda up to Ofatedo linking Oshogbo, the rehabilitation will commence anytime from now because we have an effective and ambitious lawmaker in Hon. Bamidele Salam. Thanks to the federal government for making this vision a reality. And it is hoped that after the rehabilitation, the FG will still ensure the dualization of Ede Station road.
This is one of the typical ways Honourable BS trudges on in making all the moves and connections to move Ede federal constituency forward in his time as a Rep Member.
Only last week he had a virtual meeting with the Vice President of Nigeria, Professor Yemi Osinbajo, GCON over some other development issues within Ede Federal Constituency. He has never stopped lobbying his boss and Speaker of the House of Representatives, the Rt. Honourable Femi Gbajabiamila for the rapid growth of Ede, Egbedore and Ejigbo areas respectively.
The job is paying off. Bamidele Salam is delivering on his campaign promises in sequential order to the glory of God. We thank the people and the platform that gave this opportunity for BS to perform.
