It was always said since the Second Republic that Oyo State voters do not give it’s governors two consecutive terms in office.
Governor Abiola Ajimobi who was Seyi Makinde’s predecessor in office, often boasted to be the first governor in Oyo state to break the jinx of becoming a returning governor in office in the third Republic.
With the recent victory by the high performing governor, Engr. Seyi Makinde has become the second governor to achieve that feat.
We dedicate this victory to God and the good people of Oyo State. We are grateful for your confidence in our administration and promise to work even harder to deliver our promises under Omituntun 2.0. pic.twitter.com/sld0TzS1lC

Governor Makinde achieved that feat due to his high performance in office as the savvy governor to not only pull his state from debt, he cleared the arrears of salaries owed to civil servants and contractors by his lackluster performing predecessor, Abiola Ajimobi.
Infrastructural renewal has been ongoing throughout all the zones in the state, making him one of the best loved governors in recent times.
Seyi Makinde, an engineer, used his first tenure in setting the foundation for the state’s economic growth, schools academic performance and the increase in Oyo state’s ranking in the general happinomics index measurements in the South West state.
