The People’s Democratic Party, PDP Stakeholders Meeting earlier scheduled for the International Conference Centre today, has been shifted to the Ekiti State Governor’s Lodge at the last minute , because the International Conference Centre in Abuja, Nigeria’s capital city was suddenly and inexplicably sealed off by troops of the Nigerian Police.

The party is embroiled in a leadership struggle as the Court of Appeal, Port Harcourt, in a two to one split decision, decided to impose Ali Modu Sheriff, a former governor of Boko Haram ravaged Bornu State on the party as interim Chairman.
Ali Modu Sheriff had recently moved from his former All Progressives Congress, APC, to the PDP.

Despite the later decision of the governors and other stakeholders of the party to undo the initial endorsement of Sheriff as Caretaker Chairman, a decision being fought tooth and nail by him.

Meanwhile, the meeting is ongoing and it’s being aired ‘live’ on some television stations in the country, like the Africa Independent Television, AIT, as well as being streamed online.
Solidarity speeches are being given by PDP elders, legislators and other stakeholders from all the zones in the country, who are with Senator Ahmed Makarfi, a former governor of Kaduna State, the other factional Chairman of the party .
