Pen Resource Academy Emerges Tops At The 774 YONSPA Science Competition held in Abuja

The Pen Resource Academy, Gombe has won the first Position at this year’s 774 Young Nigerian Scientists Presidential Award with 119 points.





Pen Resource Academy, Gombe (PRA) represented Gombe State at the National competition of the 774 YONSPA, held in Abuja yesterday, Monday, 14th February, 2022.



The award was presented to the 16 year old student of the Pen Resource Academy, Maryam Ogunbayo by the Hon. Minister, Federal Ministry of Science, Technology and Innovation.



The PRA participated in the competition organized by the Gombe State Ministry of Science, Technology and Innovation where the school emerged winner which led to its emergence as the only school that represented Gombe State at the National competition of the 2022’s 774 YONSPA.



Maryam Ogunbayo who represented the Pen Resource Academy and Gombe State was the best in Physics, Biology, Chemistry and Mathematics and scored 119 points during the finals of the competition.




It was learned that, this is the first time in the history of the competition for any State in the North to win the first Position and also the first time it has been won by a female in the entire country. It is indeed a record breaking achievement for the Academy, Gombe State, the North and Nigeria in general.




Maryam Ogunbayo of Pen Resource Academy is expected to meet President Muhammadu Buhari soon, for the Presidential awards.





It is worthy of note that Pen Resource Academy’s proprietor is also the Proprietor of the proposed Pen Resource University, Gombe which is awaiting the approval of the Federal Executive Council, any moment from now.



The Academy also won 1st position in the National Computer Science Competition, 2017.
