Leading People’s Democratic Party (PDP) presidential candidate, Peter Obi has been on a whirlwind tour of the northern States to promote his candidacy ahead of the party’s delegates conference.
One touching aspect of his tour is the caliber of ordinary men and women that turned out to receive him and the testimonies of Muslim faithful who lived in Awka during his tenure as State governor.
He came to Bauchi, the home state of Nigeria’s first Prime Minister.

His impassioned speech at the tomb of Alhaji Abubakar Tafawa Balewa got everyone talking.
Yes, Peter Obi, a leader may borrow for production and development like Baba Abubakar Tafawa Balewa did to give Nigeria the Kainji Dam that the country is still benefiting from today, 60 years on. That was hugely responsible.
Any leader who borrows for consumption is vastly irresponsible.

Borno and Yobe States with its vastly rolling lands that is not only fertile, but harbours enormous potentials for agro industries. It also has a huge populace that is young and dynamic. All that Nigeria needs is a selfless leader who is honest, passionate, intelligent and has a good track record. Peter Obi ticks all the right boxes.
Imagine a governor who is a Christian. Throughout his entire eight years in office, all his State police commissioners that he had no hand in choosing or appointing were all Muslims. Yet the state experienced peace, freedom from kidnapping incidences etc because his synergy with his police commissioners was excellent. They reduced criminality to the barest minimum and allowed businesses to function and prosper.
That is clearly the sign of cohesive leadership. A man devoid of nepotism who knows the right things to do.
This is Nigeria’s chance to step up and join the league of progressive and prosperous nations that grow from strength to strength.
